“Volunteering with Spectrum Sailing is one of the most rewarding things I’ve done! It’s amazing to see the change in every camper in just 3 days.
Kids go from never sailing to tying knots and skippering boats. One mom shared that after her son learned he could tie a knot, he was open to learning to tie shoes, for the first time. Another girl timidly spoke during the first day of camp, day 2 she tried every position on the boat, and the last day she skippered for two hours and, unprompted, she was chatting about plans to try out for track at school in the Fall.”
“Spectrum Sailing provides an outlet for kids that don’t normally participate in sports or clubs. I experienced the pure joy the kids felt when I volunteered at a camp in Sarasota, FL. The smiles, the laughter, and the focus from the kids at the camp was overwhelming and infectious. It’s one of the best experiences I’ve had working with youth and I’ve coached a lot of sports. I’m excited about the next chance I get to work with these kids!“
